Knights of Columbus

Knights of Columbus are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church.  Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; it is supporting your local Catholic Church, while enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting an enhancing your family life.  Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society on March 29, 1882.  The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity.  The Order has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long-term care programs, and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service in communities.  The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 14,000 councils and 1.8 million members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philiippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Gaum and Saipan.  As Knights of Columbus, our prime responsibility is to encourage and promote the future of LIfe and the Catholic Faith.
