April 3, 2020
Brothers and Sisters,
“Hosanna* to the Son of David, blessed is he who comes and will come in the name of the Lord.”
Blessed Palm Sunday and beginning of Holy Week!
I am praying that all are well.
A few reminders:
Confessions will be heard tomorrow, Saturday, April 4, 2020 outside in the covered drive in front of the Family Life Center. Please line up in your cars and stay in your cars until the person in front of you leaves the confessional screen.
Palm Sunday Mass will be available on our website and YouTube tomorrow at 5:30pm.
The Blessed Sacrament will be reserved in the narthex for the duration of the crisis.
While we can’t visit the Lord in the church you can visit through the glass in the narthex.
If you come consider the weather and if you need a coat (today it’s cold). If you want to kneel bring a towel or something that will cushion your knees or a lawn chair if you want to sit.
Please keep six feet apart.
We cannot provide chairs or kneelers for safety reasons.
Times for the Holy Week Services will be announced on Monday.
Since we can’t have the regular Holy Wednesday Anointing of the Sick, I will read the prayers of the Service for the Sick to pray for those with the virus and all of us who need healing.
I miss you and pray that this plague ends soon. This is a time of uncertainty for so many regarding the virus and also job security. It’s very difficult to remain positive but remember Christ is our hope, as hard as it is I am placing my confidence in Him. Pray.
Remembering all of you at the altar,
Fondly,
Fr. Phil
* Originally “hosanna” was a prayer for deliverance (from the Hebrew. hosia na, “Please save” Psalm 118:25 ), it began to be used in the Jewish Liturgy as an expression of joy and praise for deliverance granted or anticipated. When Jesus came to Jerusalem for his final presentation of himself to Israel, the expression was well known and on the lips of the Passover crowds.
